FMEA NO_SPF EXAMPLE

After redesign, the Computer and Interface Unit has been flushed of single point failures (SPF).

The SPF’s are mitigated through the addition of the series resistors on each of the multiplexers.

For example, now if C1 shorts to ground, the MUXA inputs will be pulled low. With the series resistors, a failure at one multiplexer chip will not pull down the CONTROL signals from both computers. This design can now tolerate one component failure. See the revised_worksheet.
